In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Niles has decided to VOLUNTARILY RECALL affected iC2 and iRemoteTS handheld remote controls shipped from Niles on or before September 3, 2010, which may include
product(s) you have purchased. The batteries used in these products are lithium-ion polymer batteries that are contained in a "soft pack" or "soft pouch." The batteries are safe during normal use. It has come to Niles' attention, however, that if the battery falls from the remote control during handling, it can rupture and smoke or ignite, posing a fire hazard As part of this recall, your dealer/installer will be contacted and will be shipped a complimentary kit that will include a new battery pack as well as additional components needed to modify the remote control for the new battery design. This new battery design is not user-serviceable and may only be accessed by a trained technician utilizing a specialized service tool. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE BATTERY PACK YOURSELF OR REMOVE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER FOR ANY REASON.
